Roundtop Filling Station

Historic Roundtop Filling Station Restoration

The filling station sat abandoned for many years after shutting down. The building became a target for vandalism and theft. The City of Sherwood inherited this building in 2003. In 2008, The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program was able to get Roundtop added to the National Register of Historic places for its association with the development of Arkansas highway culture. The station is the only know example of this type of filling station left in the state.

In May, 2013, the Roundtop was named to the Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas’ Most Endangered Historic Places List. They awarded the City of Sherwood with a grant. Along with the grant, several individuals and businesses donated money to help renovate Roundtop. Fraley Roofing was happy to donate the labor and material for the reroof.

After the completion of the restoration, the old filling station became a Sherwood Police Substation.
